Central Basketball Association of the Deaf







There were approximately 275 people (players and fans) watching seven men's and two women's teams competing at CBAD basketball tourney at Indiana Deaf School's Caskey Gym last weekend.

Indy Hawks and Indy Stars are champions. Both teams will go to USADB National Basketball Tournament at Louisville on April 8-10, 2010.

1st Annual Regional Basketball Tournament
March 6-7, 2010



Central Zone, Indy Hawks, Indy Stars, Kentucky, and WSAD Lady Mustangs travelled to Louisville, KY to participate in 66th USADB National Basketball tournament. 

Central Zone beat Austin Deaf Toros in the opener and lost next 2 games against NoVa Diplomats and Arizona Desert Fire. They placed 7th place by beating Greater Philadelphia team.

Indy Hawks aimed to 3-peat as USADB Champions by winning over Greater Philadelphia and North Carolina in first 2 games.  In the championship game, Hawks couldn't hold to the victory as they lost to NoVa Diplomats ending at
2nd place.  Edlin Dorn and Robert Haney Jr. were picked as 1st team all-stars.  Haney won the most assists award with 18 assists in 3 games.

Indy Stars won in nail-biting OT over Mississippi to advance into Final Four.  They faltered against eventually champion NoVa and Utah earning 4th place.  Micaela Paulone was selected as 2nd team all-star.

Kentucky men team had tough luck in playing NoVa in the opener and lost.  They lost a battle against Austin Deaf Toros in the consolation bracket.  Kentucky was awarded with the Sportsmanship Award.

WSAD Lady Mustangs won first game by forfeiture over Austin and lost battle with Utah.  Lady Mustangs finished strong by beating Mississippi and Alabama to win 5th place.  Chavonne Jenkins was selected as 1st team all-star.

During the House of Delegates meeting on Wednesday evening, the delegates voted to recognize CBAD as new affiliating Central region with USADB.  Also, it was voted that CAAD and CBAD officers shall meet and work out an unification soon.
